Editing

1) This shot I edited so that it was slow motion to show her falling over in a funny light which shows
the genre film is teenage comedy. I did this by changing the speed of the shot, so I halved the speed
so that the video is played slower. We then evaluated the video to check that it was the correct
speed and slightly changed it to make it faster or slower. We did this twice in the trailer.

2) To introduce the characters to the audience we wanted their name to appear on the video. So
placed the text over the clip so that both shots are played at the same time. We then moved the
text around the shot to decide the best location where it will stand out. We also changed the colour
and font to add character to the text. The colour we used was red as it is bold and it fits with the
other promotional products as the font colour on some of the magazine was red.

In this section of the trailer we are using fast pace shots between the characters reading the poem.
For this I had to make precise cuts of when to start and finish the shots so that the correct part of
the poem is said.

1) Transition - instead of using fade we decided to use an effect transition which shows a change of
period of time. It also gives the impression to the audience that it is early in the morning so it sets
the time period.

2) For these two videos we wanted to clearly show the storyline of the film so we created a voiceover of what the characters are thinking. As it shows that the characters had swapped bodies. If I
was to create these voiceovers again I would film them again as there is an echo so it does not
sound as realistic.

3)I created a split screen to show the reaction from both characters I created this by placing both
shots above each other on the time line. I then cropped the image so that it only showed the part of
the image I wanted. I then positioned the image so that it was on the correct side of the shot. I then
repeated the process putting image 2 in the blank section next to image 1.

This is the end sequence of the trailer which includes different shots of the characters and text introducing the actresses. We used fades in between the film and the texts as cuts did not work effectively as it was to harsh.
For the title of the film we have decided to use the same process as the other texts except the text moves around as to begin with they are jumbled up and then the letters move to create the correct spelling of the words. We decided to use the same colour and font which is on the poster and magazine, this is so that there is a running theme throughout the promotional package. We decided to change the background from pink like we used in the other text in the trailer as the yellow would not stand out. So instead we used a piece of lined paper as it fits with the main setting of the trailer which is the school and is a plain background so the yellow can be seen clearly. We also added the billing board at the end of the trailer with the information and a website.

Once the trailer was finished we watched it though and decided to take a section of the trailer out. As originally the trailer was over 2 minutes long which when looking at other trailers this was not stereotypical. So to make the trailer more conventional we removed the part of the trailer where the two girls met and blamed each other for what had happened to them. We did this as we believed that it did not fit with the rest of the trailer, as it did not fit the genre of teen comedy because it looked too dramatic as in trailers for this genre they are light hearted and funny . Furthermore the shots and sound was not good quality. In evaluation from removing this section the trailer runs more smoothly and fits the film genre more effectively.

Changes made to poster

After getting feedback from the target audience we made some changes to the poster. The target audience liked the photo used as they thought the image was of good quality and clearly showed the personalities of both characters. Furthermore they also liked the use of cartoons on the poster as they believed it added character and personality to the poster. We then made little changes that they suggested.

1) On the original poster the tagline was ‘who knows if they will ever change back’, but they thought
it could be worded differently so we changed the wording to ‘will they ever change back?’

2) One of the target audience commented on how some of the wing was covered so it made it
unclear of what it was. So I twisted the text and arrow and enlarged the wings so it was clearer and
it fitted around the text.

3) We also changed the wording of the names as originally it said ‘starring…’ but this is not
conventional of posters so we changed it so it was just the names which is more stereotypical.

4) The billing board was also changed to make the wording more conventional as we changed
names and added other production names. Further more we also made the text larger so it was
clearer on the poster.

5) We also added the symbol for the age restriction. We decided on 12A  as the certificate as the
target audience was teenagers and young adults 12- 25. So this certificate means that  it can contain
strong language, sex reference, violence and soft drugs which are themes that could be referenced
to in the film.
